6 Things to Remember When Moving

September 19, 2017

moving

Moving can be both extremely stressful and exciting at the same time. If you go into your move without a plan, however, and just wing the entire day, you’re going to be much more stressed than excited.

Hopefully these few tips will help you during your big move. Keep these important things in mind on your move out day.

Work with professional furniture delivery companies
You might think you’re an expert packer and mover, but what are you going to do with that three-piece sectional couch of yours? Don’t hurt yourself by trying to move any large furniture items to your new home, even if it's only a few blocks away. Contact professional furniture movers and watch the magic happen. There are residential movers who can help carry and transfer all those heavy and difficult items.

Get all the necessary items for the days following the move
Not buying household essentials can lead to more stress even after you move in. After all, you can't come back to your old house and shower every day before the unpacking is done. Since unpacking is going to take a long time, the last thing you want to worry about is running back and fourth to the store to get necessary items like toilet paper, garbage bins, paper towel, and groceries. Without these items, you’re going to have a stressful home and you’ll likely feel overwhelmed. So be sure to plan ahead.

Make a list of what items are in what boxes
Remembering to make a list of everything is important so you can keep track of all the things that you need. If you just blindly throw itms into random boxes, you’re never going to know where everything is and will have serious problems when you finally start unpacking. Label everything on the boxes, yes, but also make a list on a notepad or on your phone so you know where everything is.

Change your address
Remembering to change your address is just as important as anything. If you forget to submit a change of address 14 days prior to your move then you might not receive any important mail items. Even if you're moving down the street, the post office needs a new address immediately. Failing to provide this information in a timely manner can lead to your personal information being compromised if it goes so someone else, subsequently leading to even more stress.

Give yourself an entire day to move and an entire day to unpack
You already know how long packing took, and you should know that moving and unpacking will likely take that long. Don’t plan on getting everything done in one day, either, because you’ll stress yourself out even more. One full day for the move and one full day for unpacking should be enough, but giving yourself even more time can never hurt.

Give yourself a day of rest
If you can, take a day off after everything is done just to sit down and relax in your new home. Because even the shortest or most successful moves can be stressful and you owe it to yourself to relax for a few hours and enjoy your new place!

Although moving is extremely stressful, as long as you remember these things before, during, and after your big day, you should end up having a stress-free move. If you are in need of a professional moving company, contact SD Reliable Delivery today.
