Questions that you, the consumer, should ask your mover

Tuesday, March 31, 2015

Below are common questions that a consumer should ask their potential mover, and here are our answers:

• How long has the moving company been in business?

Reliable Delivery has been established since 2003 and is a family owned business.

• Are you licensed and insured?
Yes! We are fully licensed and insured. Our Cal-T number is: 190689 which means that we are licensed in the state of California and have all necessary liability, workers compensation, and cargo insurance.

• Have you won any awards or accolades for service? Can they show you any letters of recommendation?
We have! We won Angie’s List’s Super Service Award in both 2012 and 2013. Angie herself has stated that “only about 5% of the companies Reliable Delivery competes with in San Diego are able to earn our Super Service Award. It’s a mark of consistently great customer service.”

• Do you have any reviews online?
You can check out our many awesome reviews at any of these sites such as: Yelp, Google, Angie’s List, and the BBB.

• What do your rates really include?
Our rates include hourly labor rates, fuel rates, and drive time.
We never hide any fees from you, and we work with you to keep your move as cost effect as possible.

• Do you have any special consolidation policies?
We do not consolidate your belongings with any other person's belongings. When you book with us our full attention is solely on you and your move.

• Will the moving crew wrap and protect your furniture to prevent damages? How many movers will be on the job? How long will the job take? Are there enough hours in the day? Will you be charged if there is overtime?
We pad wrap, and stretch wrap all of your belongings so that they are completely safe from damages.
We use rug runners to keep your floors protected and we will pad wrap stair banisters to protect your old and new home.
The time and how many men that will be used will vary on the size of move. We will always do our best to provide you with the most cost effective way to move.
We do charge overtime. In order to avoid this we suggest an 8am start time if it is a larger move.

• Are you active in the community?
We definitely try to be active in our San Diego community. We are involved with Move for Hunger. This organization works with moving companies so that when their customers no longer need their nonperishable foods, the movers will take it, box it up, and donate it to the local food bank. After this is done, the food bank delivers it to families who are in need.

• What sort of specialty experience do you have? Are you familiar with high rises and elevators?
We specialize in moving antiques, lighting fixtures, designer furniture and other fragile furniture.
We are very familiar with high rises and elevators. To make your move day easier we recommend that you reserve your elevator if your building allows.

We also are able to hoist furniture, if needed, and a hoist fee applies.

• How do you handle doorways, stairways, elevators etc. in advance?
The more detailed you are with us, the better. Let us know if you have stairs, how many flights, and if it's narrow or wide.
If you are able to reserve your elevator, great! That will not only make moving day easier on you, it will be quicker.
Stairways are pad wrapped, and protected for you so that no damages are done.
Doorways can be pad wrapped as well like this picture:
